The Town of Drayton Valley is blessed with an abundance of resources, all of which play an important role in its thriving economy. From our natural resources to our skilled work force and modern infrastructure, Drayton Valley offers a great environment for businesses and families. Drayton Valley is the focal trading point for many communities within Brazeau County: Breton, Buck Creek, Cynthia, Lindale, Lodgepole, Rocky Rapids, and Violet Grove, as well as for communities that are on the boundaries of adjoining counties.

Leaders in towns everywhere are determined to build strong, vibrant business communities, and Drayton Valley is no exception. The Chamber of Commerce works with the Town to strengthen the business base as far as retaining current businesses, helping them with expansion needs, and attracting new businesses and investors to the region.

The economic growth we see throughout the province is duly demonstrated in our municipality. Economic Development departments in Brazeau County and the Town of Drayton Valley continue to encourage and enhance our business sectors with insightful information, programs and support.The primary economic base in the Drayton Valley area is oil and gas. The nearby Pembina Oilfield is Canada's largest and most prolific oilfield, encompassing more than 900 square miles. Drayton Valley is home to many local oilfield supply and service firms.

Forestry is also a major industry in Drayton Valley with Weyerhaeuser, the world's largest lumber company, operating both a sawmill and an OSB plant. The presence of Weyerhaeuser has led to many spinoff opportunities both in forestry operations or in servicing the forest industry. Advances in oil exploration, forestry, and an emerging tourism industry provides exceptional opportunities for investment and industrial expansion.

A recent Business License Inventory Program undertaken by the Town of Drayton Valley in the early stages shows there are over 642 businesses operating, employing 4,146 full-time and 1,412 part-time employees. The strengths of Drayton Valley in retail, trade, service and manufacturing, supported by a resource base of oil, gas, lumber and agriculture, has provided the town with a very stable growth pattern over the years.

Not only are businesses looking at the Drayton Valley area as a good place to set up shop, but people are looking at it as a good place to put down roots and enjoy a great lifestyle. Drayton Valley is THE place to start and grow your business!
